Mark Biley has more than forty years of experience and education in graphic design. He lived in Bournemouth, England, since the age five, and pursued his passion for art and design at Arts University Bournemouth, ranked in the Top 50 for art and performance universities in the UK.
While at university he was awarded a summer internship in London with Pentagram, the world’s largest independently-owned collaborative design studio, specializing in graphics and identity, architecture and interiors, products and packaging, exhibitions and installations, websites and digital experiences, and advertising and communications. Mark’s talent impressed Pentagram, which hired him to begin his design career with them in their London office.
After four years with Pentagram, Mark crossed the pond, landing in Palm Desert and creating his own design studio to serve the desert communities. One By Design soon developed a list of premiere clients, including College of the Desert, Desert Regional Medical Center, JFK Memorial Hospital, Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert, Palm Springs Art Museum, and The Betty Ford Center.
Missing the seasons of his native country, Mark found his way up the hill to Idyllwild in 1988, relocating his design studio there in 1995. As he continued to serve his desert clients, his freelance talents caught the attention of Idyllwild Arts Academy. In 2013 he became Lead Creative for the Idyllwild Arts Marketing Department.
Serving as Lead Creative involves Mark in every aspect of marketing design, coordination, and processes. He works on Idyllwild Arts’ online presence, press advertising, collateral projects for administrative and educational departments, communications, and the school’s proprietary branded identity.
