Joann manages Parks Exhibition Center, the campus gallery, for both Academy and Summer Program. She began teaching at IAF in Multi Arts in the Children’s Center at Summer Program, and now teaches classes with the Academy Visual Art Department. Joann is the co-founder of the Idyllwild School smARTS Project, a volunteer run and privately funded art program in the local public school started in 2002, and now in its 14th year. With the McCallum Theatre Institute in Palm Desert she taught students and trained classroom teachers in the practice of aesthetic education, an inquiry driven teaching method that encourages imaginative learning. She earned a degree in graphic design, working as a designer for 12 years before adding fine art and craft to her studio work. Her mixed media work melds painting, drawing, fiber and paper collage, and is represented at local and regional galleries, and retailers nationwide.
