postgraduates and professionals looking for professional-level
guidance, critique and discussion. Some knowledge of painting
history, especially after 1945, and an acquaintance with
developments since 1960 will be necessary.
Studio work may also incorporate collage, photographic
processes, drawing, three-dimensional objects and other
materials. Participants should bring stretched or unstretched
canvas or other surfaces appropriate for their work. Large
surfaces are encouraged. Please bring paint, brushes,
tools, and a set of slides of previous work in a carousel.
Applicants should be aware that there will be room to
work, but space is limited. It is preferred that participants
use mineral spirits rather than turpentine in the studio.
Class will culminate in an exhibition of participant work,
on July 4.
Acceptance for workshop is contingent upon a portfolio
review by committee. Six slides or cd (no other materials
please) of the applicant’s painting should be submitted
with the application. Specifications for electronic images:
send images as pdf files, files must be no larger than
600 kb. Applications will be accepted until April
8 for review by the committee. All places will
be filled by May 1. Enrollment limited to 34 students.

full participation in all discussions and lectures see
