Why we do what we do

The mission of Idyllwild Arts is to promote and advance artistic and cultural development through education in a beautiful, natural environment conducive to positive personal growth.

What we do at Idyllwild Arts

The Idyllwild Arts Academy is an independent, coeducational, nonsectarian institution. Students entering the Academy undertake a combined curriculum of pre-professional arts training and college preparatory academic studies.

The Idyllwild Arts Academy (Sept.–May) provides pre-professional training in the arts and a comprehensive college preparatory curriculum to a diverse student body of gifted young artists from all over the world.

The Idyllwild Arts Summer Program provides arts instruction and experiences of the highest caliber to a diverse student population of all ages and abilities.

Unique way we accomplish our mission

The Academy provides students in grades nine through twelve with the skills and attitudes that will improve their opportunities for success in the highly competitive world of the arts and in post-secondary education. Thus, the school provides a curriculum that is both traditional and unique and gives the student the opportunity to pursue several different options after high school.

The Academy recognizes the value of a learning environment that includes students from widely varied backgrounds. The school is committed to a strong financial aid program where the primary common denominators are talent and dedication. The Academy provides its student body with a climate of cooperation and caring where young people can learn to participate in, and assume responsibility for, building a better community.

Finally, students find joy in the discovery and fulfillment of their visions and gain the confidence and skills necessary to attain and surpass their goals in life.

Message From Board Chair

Greetings from Idyllwild Arts!

I am honored to serve as Chair of the Idyllwild Arts Foundation Board of Governors.  It's an exciting time here as our Foundation welcomes a dynamic new President.  Pamela Jordan has over twenty years of experience with the Chicago Academy for the Arts, where her Presidency has established her as a leading arts educator.  The entire Idyllwild Arts community looks forward to working with Pamela to create a vision for the future of arts education around the world.

There are also physical changes to our beautiful campus that will be visible right away to anyone who visits.  We're close to breaking ground for the William M. Lowman Concert Hall.  Its world-class acoustics will bring out the best in our brilliant young artists.  And we have new faculty housing, plus a brand-new health center opening soon to serve our students and every other member of the Idyllwild Arts community.

The Idyllwild Arts Foundation has a proud history of putting talented, devoted teachers together with equally talented and devoted students, both at the high-school level in our Academy, and at all age-levels in our Summer Program.  The interaction of these students with our faculty is magical.  Please look for chances to experience the magic during the exciting future that lies ahead of us.
