Shepard Fairey '88

In 1992, while still an illustration student at RISD, Shepard Fairey started his first business venture, Alternate Graphics, to showcase his emerging design and silkscreen printing talents. He created stickers, tshirts, skateboards, and posters which were all available via black and white mail order catalogs that he distributed.

Susan Folwell '89

Susan Folwell was born and raised in Santa Clara Pueblo, New Mexico, where she was immersed in the world of traditional pueblo pottery. She began working in clay as a child. Her mother, renown potter Jody Folwell, and her sister Polly Rose Folwell, were both major influences on her interest in pottery in pottery and experimentation.

Elora J. Hardy '99

Elora Hardy, Fashion designer for Donna Karan: Elora is the sole print designer at DKNY. After working with the clothing designers on the mood and inspiration of each season, she paints on fabric or wax resist, dyes it and turns it into a computer graphic. These designs are seen in DKNY fashions.

Matt Murphy '88

Matt Murphy was born and raised in Southern California. He's been shaking up the design world since the early '90s, when he founded MATT MURPHY DESIGN and has put his mark on everything from architecturally motivated furniture designs, graphics, technolighting, to one-off projects for Universal Studios. In the mid '90s, Matt re-focused his energies, concentrating solely on developing a line of handbags, seeing it as a sort of portable architecture.

Danielle Spears '07

Danielle Spears won her tribe’s “Princess” role with her speech about the importance of taking chances and trying challenging things. She used her Idyllwild Arts Academy experiences as the example and encouraged kids to do the same. She told them how hard it was for her to leave the reservation, her family, and everything she knew about to go all the way to California to attend a boarding school.

Theresa Teel, a native of Idyllwild, attended the Idyllwild Arts Academy as a Visual Art major from 1993-1997. Theresa attended the University of San Francisco and California College of Arts & Crafts in a joint degree program, and she graduated from USF with a B.A. in Visual Art, emphasis in Graphic Design.

Lena Wolff is a San Francisco-Bay Area based artist with an MFA in Printmaking from SanFrancisco State University who works in drawing, painting, collage, community and public art projects. Her work is influenced by a folk art and textile traditions, allegory, anthropomorphic fables and veneration for the natural world.

Jiwon Yoon '00

Born in Seoul, Korea in 1980, Jiwon Yoon lives and works in Chicago, IL. Her most recent solo exhibition has taken place in the second gallery at Carrie Secrist Gallery in Chicago (2009). She has participated in the Next, Chicago Art Fair, and had several group shows at Gene Siskel Film Center, LG Space, 1213 Sharp (Chicago, 2009) and Design Center Busan (Korea, 2008).
