Steinway Society
The Arts Academy, Music department chair Doug Ashcraft and Music faculty Nelms McKelvain hosted the winners of last spring's Steinway Society of Riverside County competition, June 22-24, for an intense weekend of practice, private lessons and a masterclass given by Ory Shihor, pianist and Colburn School faculty member. The winners stayed in Husch Hall Friday and Saturday nights, ate most of their meals in Nelson Hall, and made time for a pizza party Friday night and a little swimming Saturday afternoon. Special thanks are offered to Steve Fraider and Emma Showalter, Summer Program administrators, and Ruth Moir and Jim McCormick, Steinway board members for their assistance. Everybody worked very hard and had a great time. Thank you to Nelms for the photos.
