ESL Summer Intensive

To address the challenges of meeting academic requirements for graduation, the ESL department will be offering a summer intensive on campus open to students who have successfully completed beginning level at IAA and incoming new students. This eight-week program will offer a University of California (UC) credited course, skills classes with a focus on academic vocabulary and writing, as well as TOEFL preparation.

Why take the IAA ESL summer program?

How much does the program cost?

ESL Program Fees
If you register by:
January 13 - $7500
April 13-$8000
A non-refundable deposit of $1000 will reserve your place in a class until May 1. As of May 1 all fees are due in full.

Courses offered:

2 levels –Beginning and Intermediate + TOEFL Practice

Beginning=Literature + Grammar/Composition + Listening/Speaking-3 classes

Intermediate=World History and Reading/Composition skills- 3 classes  1 full-year unit of history credit

Each class meets 2-3 hours/day,  5 days a week for a total of 8 hours/day

 Weekly total of instruction is 40 hours + 12.5 hours of proctored study hall/week

3 Teachers –All IAA full-time faculty + 2 counselors.

  • Teachers teach all instruction hours
  • Counselors proctor nightly study hall, do nightly dorm check in, and run weekend trips and activities

7:30 AM Breakfast

8-10AM Class 1

10-12 PM Class 2

12-1 PM Lunch

1-2 PM Proctored Study Hours

2-5 PM Class 3

5-7PM Dinner and break

7-8 PM Class 3 continued

8-9:30 PM Proctored Study Hours

10 PM Dorm check in

11PM Lights out

  • Saturday and Sunday

Breakfast or Brunch

Free Days –Activities off the hill

1:00-6 PM  –van to town for shopping

Sunday 8 PM -10 PM –Proctored Study Hours
