ESL Department Statement of Philosophy
- To cultivate a sense of confidence and comfort with the English language in order to be comfortable in American academic culture
- To help ESL students integrate successfully into the wider student population at IAA
- To help students reach their artistic and academic goals through the development of their English language skills
- To provide as much opportunity for immersion as possible so that students will be able to write, think and speak in English
English Only Policy
The ESL department encourages a policy of English only in any learning environment on campus whether in an academic classroom or art studio. This is vital to a student’s language learning as well as their successful integration into the school community, and demonstrates respect for the other students and teachers around them.
